Just a Quick Reminder

November 27, 2007

Hey Guys, I just checked Feedburner just then and it looks as though a few subscribers haven’t noticed that this feed is no longer about video games. So if you are interested in keeping up with all of that stuff then be sure to check out http://danielprimed.com or you can subscribe to the feed by either email or RSS.

I also wanted to let everyone know that I’ll be posting up some Chinese work later on.

Personal PrimeScape has Returned

November 22, 2007

If you are reading this then it should confirm that PrimeScape Personal has made a comeback.

I decided to split my blog (PrimeScape) up into two smaller blogs (PrimeScape and DP’s Gaming Blog) in order to make each one more clearly defined and not so muddled. So what you are reading now is my personal blog at http://primescape.danielprimed.com

Now because of how I have the RSS feeds set up I’ve had to redirect all previous RSS subscribers to this site’s feed. Now I do realize that a lot of you guys only want to read about video gaming, which is totally cool. So if this is the case(and you’re an RSS subscriber) then just click on the image below and you’ll be subscribed to game only content.

rss subscribe

Now if you are an email subscriber then click here.

Thanks for your co-operation, I seriously appreciate it. Unfortunately I was locked into this decision. Which is so frustrating. If you recieved 20 or so new feeds from various past dates then know that they’d be the last 20 or so posts on this site. Once again, despite my efforts this so unpreventable.

Why 2 Blogs and Not Just One?

If you are a long time reader then you’d know that back around June I was having some identity woes with the blog. I’d been writing about myself for about 2 years and decided that I wanted to change my perspective and write about my life long hobby; video games. After sometime tossing up between the two, I decided to write just about games. Which meant that I had a video game blog with 2 years of posts about myself. Furthermore my personal blog was full of design tutorials from a previous site I worked for.

I should also mention that in the last few months I discovered that I really wanted to write about myself again but in doing so I didn’t want to alienate the video game based audience that I had then formed.

So here we are, almost half a year later I have finally sorted this out. Originally I wanted to solve this whole problem by having 3 blogs (one more which is the now defunct: Success in the Digital Life) but this was too much to manage.

So What Can We Expect From This Blog?

The thing is I really have been itching to do some more personal writing. Back when I started focusing solely on video games my personal life became a lot better (all in the space of a week too). Since then I’ve been so chuffed, although I said the same thing, this time last year. I feel dead on track and I feel happier than I ever have before.

So, what I’ll be doing is filling in the blanks for the last few months as well as continuing the trend at my own pace. I don’t think that I’ll post as much as previously did with the personal posts nor will they be such account of what I’ve been doing.

I also plan on bringing all of the Success in the Digital Life posts over here in due time. So I’ll have my personal posts, old tutorials and SDL stuff. Along with this I plan on writing up some posts in Chinese, I’ll probably just have a category for this. I’ll be using this as a hub for my Chinese friends to check out my work and provide some critique.

Conclusion

Alright, everything is back on track. I am so relieved. I’ll be spending some time to fix a few problems, rewrite some pages, tagging etc. If there are any major changes I’ll let you guys know. If you do spot any site issues or have any concerns then let me know via the comment box or contact form.

Thanks heaps for your continued interest.

When all your love is gone, who will save me from all I’m up against out in this world?

November 20, 2007

Most listened : Bright Lights : Matchbox

Most played : Project Rub

Its been a fairly busy week this week. I’ve got a lot of business done thats needed to be wrapped up. On Monday Chris and I finally applied for our proof of age card and I also grabbed the book that I need to learn to get my L plates. I probably should have done it ages ago as its not all that difficult.

On Tuesday Alex and Mel came around, I guess you could say that it was part of these WGA events that we’re having. It was seperate to the rest so we watched some Evangelion and did some other stuff.

Chris also got onto these jobs that I’ve wanted him to do, he set up my email and the wireless network. I spose he can clear Ubuntu off my laptop tomorrow. Unfortunately PrimeScape will be delayed as we need to get Designer Impulse out ASAP. I have to somehow create a good template but I am terrible at web design. I don’t know what I should do.

So on the Wednesday I configured my new email, set everything up in Opera etc. Oh and I thought that I post this funny picture of this odd shaped carrot that we had:

Yesterday consisted of our school valedictory services. We had a morning event and a dinner. I really couldn’t care less about it. Infact I was really pissed off at the whole event(s). I think that its because it was a week into holidays and felt like an unnecessary event to disrupt what I’ve been doing. I feel as though I’ve already said goodbye, that I’m finished. I was over year 12 about way thru the second term. I’ve had my hard slog and I really don’t want to celebrate it with the people that disrupted me during lessons. I know that it sounds rather bitter of me, but its true. Its just so frustrating. Saying that though its good talking to some of my friends for what may be the last time.

Anyways, it was stinking hot for the morning event and we had to wear full uniform including blazers. I sweated my ass off in the theatre. Right thru my blazer as well. It was awfully hot. After an hr of sitting around (as we were told to come early) it started. Everything went well. I didn’t trip on the stage or anything.

I just don’t know how to word this so I’ll say it out right. I received 2 subject awards. We only have 2 types, Dux, being the highest score of the subject and Effort being a mix between a good score and effort put into the work, altho most people think of this as 2nd place. So here’s what I won:
Dux : Information Technology
Effort : Chinese

I was very surprised by both awards. Chris had been assuming that he’d get Dux of IT since the start of the year but he got the effort award(Johnson clear out). So he was a triffle bit infuriated at that. I’m also very pleased about getting Effort for Chinese, a year 11 student got the Dux but that doesn’t matter as our Chinese teacher always gives the Duxs to year 11s and not year 12s. I’m much better at Chinese than the Dux winner, infact probably most of the year 12s are. I feel thankful for the effort award because I believe that I truly have earnt it. I’ve been going far out of my way to ensure that my Chinese work is as best as it can be this year.

Despite it being a good thing that I’ve received these awards I really don’t care. They are just pieces of paper with some terrible typography on it. I don’t need a piece of paper to tell me that I’m good at Chinese or IT. It really doesn’t bother me.

The evening event wasn’t too great. It was at the Hilton in Adelaide. The food wasn’t too great(most people I was didn’t eat much of it), the lighting was terrible, it was too dark, the speeches were terrible. Infact I just want to point out the speeches which were dreadful. They had 2 main speeches, one where they gave out various miscallaneous rewards to various students(all stupid awards like, Nice person, Strong person which where based around the Mr and Ms cartoon series names >.<). The second was a tape made up of teachers pretending to be students and making up excuses why the students couldn’t come to school. The tapes and awards were totally based on people that where favourable towards the year 12 co-ordinator. Just so terrible, the worst kind of humour out there.

Most people also didn’t get good seats as it was mainly a mix between 2 or so groups per table as people were organised to book a table for a group of people. Also a number of key friends of mine didn’t attend or just disappeared into thin air.

Once it finished they opened up the bar and people could stay and dance or drink or whatever. This kinda bugged me as the school promoted this whole point too heavily. We let you go and you are no longer students of our school and then we open the bar for you. I just can’t shake it. So I didn’t stick around, there was really no point. I hate club/mainstream music, hardly any of my friends were staying and have just been so buggered the past few days. Well I spose they limited everything but it still kinda bugs me.

So thats what I’ve been doing during the past few days. I just wish that I didn’t have the burden of this new template and logo to make for designer impulse as I have finally got stuff organised this past week and a half and I want to now set up my own things. Play more games, do some Chinese revision and also do somemore stuff with friends. I should do something with Matt next week. Maybe twice as I think WGA will be cancelled due to Cam and Garion having this mega lame D&D tournament. I’m just kinda pissed off ATM. At least all of this school nonsense is over and I can now really learn what I want to learn and also just relax. Actually it should be good tomorrow I’m going to a suprise birthday party for one of Mum’s friends. Chris and I haven’t seen their kids for years so it will be great catching up with them, I’m really looking forward to it. Anyways, Love, Protection, Good vibes and the rest of it.
