Most listened: Space Cowboy-Jamiroquai
Current longing: Photography
Its crazy this thing that has been bugging me recently. I wrote about in in a unpublished entry, after my last entry something happened that threw this stuff back in my face. I don’t know what to think about it now.
I’ve been a bit of a grump this week. With my brothers absence from school I have had a new feeling of independence. I’m not sure what to make of it but I’m glad that I’ve had it. It’s made me ignore others and focus a bit more which I think is important. I’ve had a hard week but I’ve got thru heaps of work and revision. I am disappointed though as today I just haven’t been able to do much work. Perhaps I need the break. Its bugging me though but I guess its ok. I keep on having breaks were I’m getting busy on the laptop with something, then I feel as though I need a break from the work that I’ve done on the laptop which isn’t exactly school work.
I borrowed a book on the history of Chinese nature which has been good so far, I don’t think that I’ll read the whole thing but its good.
I got my mark back for the specialist test a week ago, I got 76% which was one of the highest marks in the class, the bets being 86%. A bit less than my previous 93% but I am really happy with it. I only got one question completely wrong the rest I knew what I was doing and lost marks for simple errors.
I made 3 pretty good sigs this week, one of a pic from the new MGS Digital Manga, one of Richard Ashcroft which turned out pretty badly and one of toad from one of the Mario games which turned out okish. I also finished my Xin Tian collection of photos, the last few turned out really well.
Thats something thats intrested me in the last few hrs, Photgraphy. I’ve been talking to someone from GreyCobra who is really good at it getting a bit of advice. I need to post up my collection once they are all on dA, I have about 3 left. So then I can get some feedbakc of them. After reading some photography tutorials on Friday night I think that I have a fairly good idea of what he’ll say.
Its my Grandma’s birthday tommorow so we had Chinese for tea and her and Papa came around. On the way to pick up the meal I started talking to him about photography as he use to be in a photography club where people would take a picture and every week a special judge would come in and review them. They had meetings and shared tips and work etc. He’s had his film SLR for about 15yrs now I think. He likes to photography flowers and scenery, mainly close ups though. So he gave me some advice about taking a good photo and his own thoughts about the subject matter. I went thru and showed him some of this other guy’s(Molnies, that has helped me out a bit, Greycobra etc.) photos and we analysed them. Then we went thru my Xin Tian collection.
My overall impression is that they aren’t too bad for a first effort. I could have done much better with a better quality camera, more time and more experience. Some of the shots are a bit for the sake of it, something that looks nice. I managed to frame/crop and prepare them fairly well I just need to get better at composition, lighting etc. I think that my photos are intresting to look at, there are prolly about 5 quite good shots there so I should be pleased with the result. Oh I also managed to do a good job of removing dead spots from my original pictures.
I’m really happy with the results and wanna do some more photography. I’ll keep practicing a bit and see what happens. I’ll be sure to do some research. I wish Chris would hurry up and get my photos on the site as he’s had 4 weeks to do it!
Also been setting up my new blog/portfolio site. Still need to get some ideas grounded.
Thanks for reading
